INFORMATION FOR VOLUNTEERS

How are participants protected during a research trial?

Currently, there are laws, guidelines and standards that demand a strict control of the clinical research. In AMIC we work to comply with the General Health Act, Official Mexican Standards (when applicable), and Guidelines; as well as international guides (Declaration of Helsinki, Good Clinical Practices, etc.), all of them with the purpose of having reliable information useful for the community.

Process

The study is performed following a document called investigation protocol, which is elaborated by the professional staff by complying with the national and international regulations. This document specifies all activities of the study in detail. All information of the study, including the subject’s identity and personal data, is confidential.

Protocol

All protocols in the research must be approved by the Ethics and Research Committee, which is a group of people out from AMIC who assess the study protocol, and care for the participant’s integrity. The health authority, COFEPRIS, is also part of this Committee.

Incentive

For all the volunteers, when chosen to participate in the study, we offer without charge medical assessment, consultancy and laboratory studies, and a compensation for the time provided in the research these are requirements established in the General Health Act regarding health research.

What is an informed consent?

It is the process for a volunteer or patient to confirm his/her will to enroll on a research study, after being informed about all the aspects of the study that may be relevant when making the decision.

If you want to be part of a clinical research study in AMIC, you will have at your disposal the information of the study you will be part of by written, and you may ask the questions you consider necessary before you decide participating.
